To Sell or Not to Sell?
This is a very difficult and personal question: After your wedding, will you sell on your wedding dress?
It an be quite a touchy subject, there are lots of opinions either side of the argument, but which answer is best for you?
This question came up when a friend of mine recently sold her wedding dress. In this economic climate, can we afford not to sell our dresses?
Sell, Sell, Sell
The argument for selling your dress is a simple one, money. You love your dress, it’s made you happier than you could ever imagine, the photos you took will stay with you forever, but are you going to wear it again?
Chances are slim that there will ever be an occasion for you to wear your wedding dress again, so selling it seems a sensible option.
Selling Help
Across the internet, there are lots of websites helping newly weds sell their dresses.
Preloved, Once Wed, Sell My Wedding Dress and Almost New Wedding Dresses were the top four search results on my Google search, but there are thousands more websites.
Preloved is a great site I’ve heard of before, and remember a lot of brides who are looking to find a more affordable dress will often choose the site that’s at the top of their Google search.
Reasons to Sell
Obviously money is a large factor, but then it may also save you money to sell your dress.
A wedding dress needs to be stored properly and it can be expensive to get it regularly dry cleaned. The storage for the dress can be expensive to buy, if you want to keep it in pristine condition.
Obviously space is also an issue. Wedding dresses can be very large and do take up a lot of space. In a world that is becoming more and more crowded, can we really afford the space that a wedding dress takes up?
Don’t Sell Your Dress!
On the other hand, other brides might find it shocking to even consider selling their dress! They are getting married, they are looking forward to wearing their pretty dress, they are not thinking about what to do with it afterwards!
It is traditional to make your child’s christening clothes from your wedding dress. If you sell your dress you will not be following that tradition.
Your wedding dress is special, it’s a dress you’ll possibly never wear again, your daughter may want to wear it one day.
It’s a keepsake, your wedding dress is something amazing from your wedding that you will be able to keep for the rest of your life!
What Will I Do?
I’m currently undecided but I am looking closely at the iPhone 5, it would be lovely to be able to afford a nice new gadget, and selling my wedding dress would make all that possible.
Online shops are now an enormous option for women to put up for sale their wedding dresses. This is a kind of second hand store where you leave your wedding gowns for it to be reselling.
